Beastie Boys member, Adam Yauch better know to us as “MCA”, died today at age 48 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was diagnosed in 2009.

As I read the news, I felt a lump in my stomach filled with sadness. How is it when someone we’ve never met before dies, it can have such an impact on us? I guess it’s the personal memories set around their music, or the story of these music pioneers. I can remember bumping the Licensed To Ill album so much my “tape” broke.

Today is an end of an era but the music and the history will live on!

The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame last month but MCA was not able to attend, raising speculations about his health. You can see the induction live this Sat night at 8pm central on HBO.
